چکیده

Dynamics in a distributed system are self-stabilizing if they are guaranteed to reach a stable state regardless of how the system is initialized. Game dynamics are uncoupled if each player’s behavior is independent of the other players’ preferences. For uncoupled players, recognizing an equilibrium is a distributed computational task. Self-stabilizing uncoupled dynamics, then, capture both resilience to failure and distribution of knowledge. We initiate the study of these dynamics by analyzing their strength in a bounded-recall synchronous setting. We determine, for every size of game, the minimum number of periods of play that stochastic agents must recall in self-stabilizing uncoupled dynamics, and also in the special case when the game is guaranteed to have unique best replies. For deterministic agents, we give two self-stabilizing uncoupled protocols. One applies to all games and uses three steps of recall. The other uses two steps of recall and applies to games where each player has at least four available actions. We also prove that for uncoupled deterministic agents a single step of recall is insufficient to achieve self-stabilization, regardless of game size.

Dynamic Fracture Analysis Using an Uncoupled Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian Finite Element Formulation

This paper deals with the implementation of an efficient Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation for the three dimensional finite element modeling of mode I self-similar dynamic fracture process. Contrary to the remeshing technique, the presented algorithm can continuously advance the crack with the one mesh topology. The uncoupled approach is employed to treat the equations. So, each t...

Self-Organization in Multi Agent Systems: A Middleware Approach

Self-organization is built upon two main building blocks: adaptive and uncoupled interaction mechanisms and context-awareness. Here we show how the middleware TOTA (Tuples On The Air) supports self-organization by providing effective abstractions for the above two building-blocks. TOTA relies on spatially distributed tuples for both supporting adaptive and uncoupled interactions between agents,...

Non-critical String Cosmologies

Non-critical String Cosmologies are offered as an alternative to Standard Big Bang Cosmology. The new features encompassed within the dilaton dependent non-critical terms affect the dynamics of the Universeś evolution in an unconventional manner being in agreement with the cosmological data. Non-criticality is responsible for a late transition to acceleration at redshifts z=0.2. The role of the...

Gradual Stabilization under τ -Dynamics

We introduce the notion of gradually stabilizing algorithm as any self-stabilizing algorithm achieving the following additional feature. Assuming that at most τ dynamic steps occur starting from a legitimate configuration, a gradually stabilizing algorithm first quickly recover to a configuration from which a specification offering a minimum quality of service is satisfied. It then gradually co...

Nonlinear Stabilizing Controller for a Special Class of Single Link Flexible Joint Robots

Joint flexibility is a very important factor to consider in the controller design for robot manipulators if high performance is expected. Most of the research works on control of flexible-joint robots in literature have ignored the actuator dynamics to avoid complexity in controller design. The problem of designing nonlinear controller for a class of single-link flexible-joint robot manipulator...
